There are many names for them, what are we going to call them?
First of all let’s not get them mixed up with the Red Hot Chili Peppers Band which started back in the 1989s and is still going and producing albums today. No, I’m talking about the plant variety type that grows in the garden.
It depends in which country you are living, some of them have different names. Let’s name them first so we are all on the same wave-link: Capsicum, Chili Peppers, Bell Peppers, Paprika, Cayenne and Jalapeno.
They all belong to the vegetable family and are available in beautifully coloured red, green, and yellow.
Chili peppers, also known as capsicum, are mainly used as a spice to add that extra flavour to many dishes. The hot peppers’ fire comes from the capsaicin dark red colour. Also, besides the taste where it offers that pungent oral sensation in your mouth, the chili pepper has many health benefits. According to experts, chili pepper has a chemical compound (capsicum) which becomes an effective remedy for pain and other medical conditions.

Eating hot peppers also increases the body’s heat production and stays in your gut for about twenty minutes which helps burning extra calories and helps weight loss. There have been many uses for all kinds of arthritis pain, as well as for dermatological conditions such as hair, nails and skin that has a painful itch. Capsaicin has become a recognized treatment option for osteoarthritis pain; it’s also been used as pain management for diabetic neuropathy, as well with capsaicin cream to help psoriasis.
Capsaicin helps clear mucus from your nose as well from congested lungs. By some critics, chili peppers have been blamed to cause stomach ulcers. Not only do they not cause ulcers, they can help prevent them by killing bacteria that causes them because of that spicy content. Chili peppers may not suit or be good for everyone; they can cause a burning sensation, stomach pain and diarrhea. Chili peppers as a spice are healthy, while for those who experience digestive distress is better to avoid them.
Because of their antioxidant properties they help inflammation and inflammatory diseases such as arthritis etc. Chili peppers offer other benefits. They are rich in beta carotene, which converts by your body into vitamins; this includes most of the vitamin B family. Vitamins play an important role in protecting the body from invading pathogens, which are microorganisms that cause disease. Therefore chilies are an excellent source for vitamins including minerals like folate, molybdenum, manganese, potassium, copper and thiamine. These are just some of the over 16 different minerals.
Chili Has A Whole List Of Benefits
It is rich in vitamin C, which has many functions in our immune system as it helps the body to produce white blood cells that fight infection and germs. Because of a compound in capsaicin, this can lower triglycerides, cholesterol. Some studies have shown that it may help in dissolving blood clots. Cultures that use hot peppers regularly in the diet have a much lower heart attack and stroke rate according to studies. Chili peppers can also help the damaging effects of LDL (bad cholesterol).
According to research, capsaicin has a profound anti-proliferative effect on prostate cancer. Because of vitamin C, beta carotene and folic acid found in chilies, chilies reduce the risk of colon cancer. Chilies and red peppers also contain a substance called carotenoids which gives them and other vegetables those vibrant colours. Beta carotene, lutein and lycopene are all different varieties of carotenoids. They all have a strong amount of antioxidants that help the body fighting cancer and disease.
As a natural food, because of the many numbers of health benefits in chili peppers, it would be of great benefit to include them as much as possible in your diet.
