While it is clear that detoxing provides an added boost for weight loss, people still avoid it. Why? Detoxing has a bad reputation. The argument that to detox, you only need to drink lemon water for seven days is absurd. This is one of those crackpot ideas that cause people, especially nutritionists, to balk. Depriving yourself of essential nutrients for a week is harmful to your overall health. If the idea of detoxing for weight loss has any merit, it must not be unhealthy at the start.
Now there is nothing wrong with fasting. The very idea of fasting for spiritual restoration is common all over the globe. But to be effective fasting must be short-term and intermittent. You cannot flush toxins out of your body by starving yourself.
A detoxing regimen that includes long-term fasting should be avoided at all costs. While fasting for up to three-days will reboot your body’s detoxing functions, more than that is simply dangerous.
Detoxing for Weight Loss: You Don’t Have to Cut Calories
The core of any weight loss program is burning more calories than you consume. Detoxing is an ongoing process. Once out of the reboot phase, caloric counts matter. In this sense, you have to watch what you eat, and the quality of the calories you consume.
Detoxing for Weight Loss: Only Foods You Hate are On Your Diet Plan
If there is value in science and weight loss, it is simply this. If you consume foods you do not like, you will not stick to your plan. While, like on any diet, there are things you should avoid. Refined sugar and flour, processed food like products, soda pop, and fast foods. But if you are forced by the diet plan to eat foods you hate, you’ll never continue.
A sound detoxing program has very few foods you should avoid. Rather it will provide a list of healthy items and preparations that will boost the impact of detoxing and speed weight loss.
Detoxing for Weight Loss: Normal Foods are Prohibited
Look, the goal of a detoxification program is to rid your body of harmful toxins that sneak in and impact metabolism. It is not a goal to create unnatural burdens on eating the foods you love. The list of prohibited food is quite short. The list of healthy food, on the other hand, is extensive.
Clearly, the key to weight loss success involves both nutrition and satisfaction. If you are denied the things you love you’ll fail. If you don’t get proper nutrition your health will go downhill. A proper detoxing regimen takes this into account making weight loss a simple task.

Detoxing is one part of a complete diet plan. Knowing that your body must be rid of harmful toxins to make weight loss effective and actually detoxing is only a first step. Eating well and healthy along with exercise and mental preparation is just as important as detoxing.
