Being on a tight budget means having to find ways to cut corners. One of the most economic and nourishing things I do for my skin is to use (extra virgin) olive oil. The beauty of olive oil is it can be used for so many things. I tend to wear darker eye makeup just to give me that extra umph I desire.
Every night before bed I just use a washcloth and a dab (a dime size or less) of olive oil. I gently wipe my entire face to take off all the day’s make-up residue. It works wonders and it really moisturizes my skin, especially during the drier winter months. This helps me economically, instead of buying those “eye makeup remover wipes”, I use my olive oil and save money. You can also use extra virgin olive oil when you get out of the shower. It’s great to moisturize your skin and keep it smooth and soft. If you have dry or cracked elbows and feet, apply olive oil to them before bed, remember to wear socks and a long sleeve shirt to bed so you don’t get oil on your sheets.
Eye Makeup Remover can cost anywhere from $5 to $20 and at the most last a month whereas a 17 oz. bottle of “Great Value: Extra Virgin Olive Oil” cost about $3.75 and lasts anywhere from 3-6 months. This is just a small but awesome tip that can really get your skin going in the natural direction. To be more sustainable, recycle a small glass jar and pour some olive oil into it to keep in your bathroom.
