Saledelia is a great cafe all around. It is especially great if you are going organic on a budget since the restaurant is almost all organic and the price is right. You can eat a full meal with a drink for under $13.00 and they also have a special going on, Dinner for 4, $32-$40. It is located in Durham, North Carolina and it is pretty close to Duke University and UNC.
When we entered the cafe it was decorated very nicely, it was very clean and the staff gave a warm welcome. I did the bathroom check as always because if the bathroom is not clean I will not eat there. After passing the bathroom check, I began to look over the menu. It has a middle eastern flare along with more traditional sandwiches like French Beef or Tuna Melt and daily house made soup. The baked goods are from their sister store and although I am gluten-free my husband said the carrot cake was to die for.
I ordered the veggie platter with Lebanese Green Beans, Stuffed Grape Leaves, and a Spanakopita (which was like a spinach and cheese filo dough pastry). My husband ordered The Greek Sampler with the Chicken Souvlaki, Okra Salad, and a Spanakopita and we shared the Beet and Goat Cheese Salad. We loved all of it. The food was fresh and the service was great. We ended off with some great baklava and even took a couple home for later. We liked the cafe so much we went back the next night and ordered food to go.
Usually going out to eat for me is always a challenge because of my diet (organic, gluten-free and non-GMO). The biggest test for me when I eat at a restaurant is the morning after. Nine times out of ten my stomach always hurts or is upset in the morning and I don’t fully recuperate usually until the afternoon. It is not fun. So when I find a honest place that is true to their motto of natural eating, I want to share it with my readers.
It definitely passed the morning after test and I will definitely be back. So if you want to experience great food, atmosphere and service, Saledelia is the way to go.
Oh did I mention they have free WIFI, cater parties, and offer live music every Friday and Saturday night. Even better!
It’s big enough to have a decent gathering (at least 25 people) including family gatherings but also quiet enough to do some studying. The room for the bigger parties is actually separated from the cafe side so it is perfect for everyone and their needs. I give this cafe 4 out of 5 stars and recommend this place whole heartedly.
