A simple kitchen oven is a luxury so many average Americans take for granted on a daily basis. And yet, we find it incredibly difficult to keep our ovens clean!
The day I moved into my apartment and used the oven, the smoke alarm went off. I swear the previous tenant hadn’t cleaned it in years. Or maybe ever. I went to my neighbor for suggestions and she let me borrow her borax. Using the recipe below I scrubbed the years and years yuck off. Since there was a lot I had noodles arms when I was done.
While mine doesn’t look spotless, it’s significantly cleaner than it was before and the mysterious smell wafting through my apartment only on warm days has also disappeared. Whew.
