Body and Shine with Dreadlocks
Yes, it can happen. That was my experience when I tried Jinsa Essentials Wonderful Oils of the World hair and skin moisturizers.
Of course, my ‘dreds’ are very immature at this point and I still have a lot of hair that has yet to tighten into ‘locs.’ (Check out my blog about my hair care journey here for more)
I’ve been very particular for quite some time as to what I use for personal care products. They must be naturally sourced, made with quality ingredients and, preferably, easy on my bank account.
My hair also enjoys being particular. It has a very interesting mix of things going on: oily/dry, manageable/frizzy and it’s a medium thickness and loosely curled.
All Natural Hair/Skin Moisturizer? Heck yeah!
I do have sensitivities to some products, but I suspect that may be due to certain chemicals.
So, I leapt at the chance to try Jinsa Essentials line of moisturizers on my mane! Little did I know I could also use it on my skin! And why not? After all, it is made from natural oils.
I had to do a bit of research on this company to get a better understanding of what it is they’re really about.
- They’ve been in business since 1985
- Specializing in fragrant oils
- Founders incorporated their love for a holistic lifestyle into their products
- Quality ingredients
- Have a great variety of products at reasonable prices
Too Much Good Stuff
I went overboard with trying a few of these products. The great news is now you get to hear about it!
When my package showed up, it smelled YUMMY. I did not eat the contents, don’t worry.
Of all the scents I had to choose from the first product I needed to try was the Soft Silky Smooth Natural Moisturizing Oil – Natural Amber. The company suggests using this product just after bathing, while the skin/hair is still moist. So, I did.
I applied a small amount (about the size of a quarter) in my palm and massaged it throughout my hair. The fragrance is sooo amazing! I love herbaceous, sweet aroma’s and I wasn’t disappointed at all. My hair had an amazing shiny glow and wonderful scent.
Once my hair dried, I could feel the softness the oil provided, but without the heaviness you can sometimes get from oils. It also was not at all “greasy” feeling, nor does it stain clothing.
It actually defined my curls a bit more too. I felt as though I had been in a shampoo commercial for defining curls, bounce and shine!
I also used Botanical Light Oil Hair Spray – Sunflower Shea
This wonderfully smelling concoction helps with frizz, naturally. It leaves NO buildup and has no alcohol. Seriously shiny hair will happen so prepare yourself for an experience.
A few things I noticed:
- While you can use it on your skin, I did not. I feel as though the fragrance may be too strong for some if used all over the body. Perhaps apply to only the areas needing some TLC.
- The scents can be a bit strong at first. It does lessen as the day progresses; but the scent will linger for at least 48hrs.
A Finishing Touch
All in all, I sampled several different blends and scents. And I was not disappointed at all with any of them. I recommend these moisturizers for people looking for easy to use, quality oils for skin and body. It also helps that the company is totally into holistic products and care too, that way you can be sure that you’re using the best and looking the best.
They offer an array of products and various product sizes too.
