Reducing Personal Stress: Take A Deep BREATH!

You are here: Home / Natural Expressions / Reducing Personal Stress: Take A Deep BREATH!

May 23, 2019 //  by Guest Post//  7 Comments

By Richard Brody

When life hands you, lemons, it’s wise to make lemonade. How many times have you heard that advice, throughout your life? An essential reality of living is, there will always be, certain stresses, and anxieties. While we can’t eliminate these, it’s how, we handle these, which often, makes a significant difference, between, living a happy, healthy life, versus, a far less, desirable one. Dr. Hans Selye was awarded the Nobel Prize, for his work, and study, in the area of human stress, and, distinguished, harmful stress, versus useful stress (eustress). This article will focus on a basic principle, which I refer to, as, Take a Deep BREATH, which means, wait before reacting, responding, panicking, and consider, how to use, these potential stresses, to provide beneficial life experiences. With that in mind, this article will attempt to, briefly, examine, consider, review, and discuss, using the mnemonic approach, some of the potential benefits, of using this approach.

1. Beliefs; benefits; best:

Proceed with an open – mind, so your personal beliefs, do not prejudice your decisions, in terms of making the best, possible decisions! Always consider potential benefits, and how, any event, can help you become closer, to your personal best!

2. Relevant; responsive/ responsible; realistic; rationale; rational/ reasoning:

Instead of randomly, looking at the negatives, prioritize, truly relevant approaches! Consider, how you respond, and whether, the responses, are the best for you, and are both, responsive, and personally responsible. Don’t bury your head, in the sand, and proceed, in a realistic manner. Understand your personal rationale, including your strengths and weaknesses. Will you be rational, enough, to avoid, merely emotional responding? Know, understand, and examine your reasoning, so you can be, as happy as you might be!

3. Emphasis; energy; excellence; enrich:

Where you place your emphasis, will, usually, determine whether, your energy, helps or harms you! If you hope to enrich your existence, demand your utmost degree of personal excellence, rather than, merely, good – enough!

4. Attitude; aptitude; attention:

Are you ready, willing, and able, to proceed, through life, with a true, positive, can – do, attitude? When one combines this, with a well – developed, relevant aptitude, and skill – set, and focuses his attention, on transforming obstacles, to challenges, rather than problems, you maximize your chance, to be happier, and healthier!

5. Timely:

Never procrastinate, because delay, does not make things easier, but, rather, the best approach, is proceeding, with well – considered, timely action!

6. Healing; healthy; head/ heart:

When we look ahead, focused on healing, by using our emotional and logical components, in a head/ heart balance, the opportunity, to live a healthy, happy life, is exponentially enhanced!

Rather than being overwhelmed, do, all you can, to step back, and take a deep BREATH, before reacting, or overreacting! Will you help yourself, to a happier, healthier life?
