Hello all my gorgeous fashionistas, it’s time once again for our Style of the Week! This week I was out running errands and happened upon a Salvation Army Thrift Store in Newberry Park, CA. I immediately stopped and went in. There is always something irresistible to me when I come across an unconquered thrift/second-hand store!
I walked in and gave myself a budget of $30. I would also like to note that I do not stop at clothing stores alone. I am an all-around shop-o-holic and for this reason I am fueled by a great deal! At this Salvation Army the first thing I noticed was how big their home furnishing/knick-knack area was, which is where I went first. My eyes immediately locked onto the wide variety of gorgeous baskets they had for sale. All were in the 3 to 8 dollar range. I picked out five of them and had to walk away before I grabbed any more.
I use baskets around my house for all sorts of different types of storage, such as food, crafts, yarn, electrical wires, chargers and headphones. I also have a large sewing room where I like to save things like fabric scraps, trimming, and patches because I try to recycle everything. The goal is to throw nothing away that can be used to make something else. Therefore we use what we already have and decrease our carbon footprint. I find that organizing with baskets adds a stylish flair to your room, while containing things that otherwise clutter your home. These are the 5 baskets I picked out and have already been putting to good use.
My main focus has always been fashion and style while being deeply committed to recycling. That commitment goes far beyond the closet. Style can cover many mediums from clothing and jewelry to art and furniture. Remember to stay flexible on your ideas on what is stylish. If you go to designer stores, baskets like these will run you anywhere from $29.99 to $59.99 plus tax! The most expensive basket I purchased was $8.99- it was the covered vintage (1950’s) one that I used for my threads. I came in at a little under my budget and helped to reduce clutter and beautify my home. I would say this qualifies as our Style of the Week!
I hope I inspire you to be adventurous with your personal style and do not be afraid to try new things! Cheers!!
