Yogi Confession: Motivation Isn’t Always Present

You are here: Home / Yoga Blogs / Yogi Confession: Motivation Isn’t Always Present

November 18, 2015 //  by Jenn Horst//  2 Comments

It doesn’t sound so inspiring to share, that sometimes motivation is not present for me. Sometimes I don’t feel like practicing yoga. I never fight something if my body truly doesn’t seem to be cooperating with what I think I should be doing. Some days I get up and just really don’t feel like getting on my yoga mat. Although it is very rare that I don’t do some type of practice every day, there are occasions that it just doesn’t happen.

Do I get hard on myself for not finding the motivation?motivation

Not at all, that isn’t a productive mindset. Sometimes our bodies need healing time, and sometimes we don’t know exactly from what we need healing. Your body will always communicate to you what it needs. So chances are, if you feel too tired to practice, you may have overworked it somehow. Or you have not been eating well to fuel your body properly.

Very rarely do I get on my mat and leave it feeling regret. So put on a comfy outfit, an uplifting music playlist and roll out your mat. Because I promise you, it will only take a few deep breaths for you to remember why you practice and you’ll be glad you found the motivation.

If you’re new to yoga, and need a little motivation to get started, read my article on how I found yoga in the first place and a bit of the journey it has led me on.

Things that inspire me:

  • Online yoga videos and pictures
  • Nature and being outdoors
  • Sunrises and sunsets

What if the weather doesn’t allow for you to get in nature? Sarah Beth will take you on a beautiful adventure through the woods showcasing the amazing autumn colors!

Amazing! I often don’t feel motivation to get on my mat and start my practice. But as soon as I step on my mat and start those first few stretches, I’m glad I did! Especially in the morning when you’re tired and sluggish, getting on the mat does wonders!
